Minecart speed
Keep moving minecarts at a set speed on ordinary rails. This is useful for a railway scene where you don't want powered rails visible along the whole track.
commands
/railspeed <blocks-per-second|off>
/railspeed # what it's set toAlias /fastrails. Needs scriptedessentials.admin.
commands
/railspeed 8 # powered rail speed everywhere
/railspeed 20 # two and a half times that
/railspeed offAnything from 1 to 40. Vanilla powered rails top out at 8.
How it behaves
- Only carts that are already moving get held at speed. A parked cart stays parked, give it a push.
- Full speed on straight flat track. Coming up to a corner, a slope or the end of the line it brakes to vanilla speed early enough to hold the rail, then picks back up on the next straight.
- An unpowered golden rail still brakes, so your stations keep working.
- Every kind of cart, riders or not.
Test the full route at the speed you want to film. Higher speeds can look rough around corners even with the braking behaviour.
Config
The speed is saved in server/system.json, so it stays set after a restart. There's nothing to change in config.yml.
