Introduction

ScriptedEssentials is a Paper plugin for making scripted Minecraft content. It has the admin tools you would normally need five plugins for, plus the stuff you actually need when filming like fake join messages, fake world borders, and a mode that locks the server down while you record.

You can turn off anything you don't want. Switch a system off in config.yml or in the /sefeatures menu and the commands disappear.

What it does

  • NPCs with skins, kits, walking paths, recorded movement and groups
  • PlayerReplay, to record real players and play them back as NPCs
  • Kits and warps
  • Nicknames and skins
  • Heal, feed, freeze, vanish, invisibility, potions and sudo
  • Spectating or getting kicked on death, half-heart protection, keep inventory and death sounds
  • The item maker, trims, rename, invsee and inventory rollback
  • Chunk rollback, random fill and kill all
  • Server lock, dimension lock, chunk bans, and build and break toggles
  • Shroud, the mod checker and other ways to keep griefers and recorders off your build
  • Teams
  • Chat mute, clear chat, the command blocker, and fake join and leave messages
  • Recording mode and per-player borders
  • Orbital rods, kick sticks and other junk

Everything has its own page in the sidebar. Some of this is Premium-only, see Lite and Premium for the split.

What you need

Server PaperMC or a Paper fork
Minecraft 1.21.8 or newer
Java 21 or newer

Paper only

Spigot and Bukkit won't work. It needs Paper or a fork of Paper, like Purpur.

Optional plugins

None of these are required. If they're installed, the plugin picks them up on its own.

  • LuckPerms, or any other permissions plugin, works with the nodes on Permissions.
  • With WorldEdit, FastAsyncWorldEdit or Axiom, edits get logged so /chunkrestore can undo them. This is Premium only.
  • Simple Voice Chat turns on /vcmute, /vcjoin and /vcbroadcast. This is Premium only too.

Where to start

  1. Installation - drop the jar in and start the server
  2. Lite and Premium - what's free and what needs a licence
  3. Configuration - turn systems on and off
  4. Permissions - pick who can use what
  5. Command list - everything in one place
