Random nicknames

Premium

This is part of ScriptedEssentials Premium. See what's in each edition.

Use /nick random when you want a name and skin without picking them yourself. The plugin chooses from its username pool, or from a named profile you've made.

commands
/nick random [target]
/nick random profile <profile> [target]
/nick random toggle <NONE|NON-OPS|EVERYONE>

Nicking people as they join

yaml
nickname:
  random:
    # NONE, NON-OPS or EVERYONE
    auto-nick-on-join: "NONE"
    affect-ops: false
Mode Who gets nicked
NONE Nobody
NON-OPS Everyone but ops
EVERYONE Everyone

/nick random toggle <mode> changes it without opening the file.

The pool

commands
/nick add <username> # add a name, it looks the account up
/nick check <user> # is it in the pool
/nick reload # reload from disk
/nick stats
/nick clearusedlist # forget which names have been used

The current pool uses data/uuid_pool.txt and stores name/UUID pairs. Use /nick add, /nick check and /nick reload to manage it rather than creating a separate usernames_custom.txt file.

clearusedlist clears the used-nickname death blacklist. That's not the same as the blacklist file, settings/blocked-names.txt, which holds names you never want picked.

Profiles (/nick profile)

Profiles let you keep a separate list for a series, a team or a particular cast.

commands
/nick profile create <name>
/nick profile delete <name>
/nick profile add <name> <username>
/nick profile remove <name> <username>
/nick profile list

Then pull from one:

commands
/nick random profile lobby-cast @a

Similar names (/nick similarnames)

commands
/nick similarnames <on|off>

Gives joining players a variation of their usual name. This is an appearance feature, not a way to hide their account identity or UUID from other plugins.

yaml
nickname:
  similar-names:
    enabled: false
    exclude-ops: true

Removing names

commands
/nick removename <username>
/nick purgeharvested

removename removes one name from the pool. It can be added again by the name harvester, so use the blacklist if you want to keep it excluded.

Purging resets the pool

purgeharvested returns the pool to the bundled names. It also removes names added with /nick add, so don't run it just to remove one unwanted name.

Random heads

/randomhead uses the same pool. See Inventory & Items.
