Build & interaction locks

Premium

This is part of ScriptedEssentials Premium. See what's in each edition.

Use these when players need to leave the set and their equipment alone. Build and break control blocks; the interaction locks cover equipment, item frames and inventories.

Build and break

commands
/build off
/break off
/build on
/break on

off stops non-ops placing or breaking blocks. on allows it again. Run either command without an argument to check its current setting.

Interaction locks

commands
/lock <armor|itemframe|inventory|chest|container> [on|off]
/lock status

Here, on enables the lock. Leave the toggle out to switch its current state.

Lock What it stops
armor Changing armour slots, equipping locked equipment and dropping those items
itemframe Interacting with or breaking item frames
inventory Dropping items; it also enables the pickup restriction below
chest Changes to chest, ender chest, barrel, hopper and shulker inventories
container Changes to furnace, smoker, blast furnace, dispenser, dropper, brewing stand and lectern inventories

armor is a player-equipment lock, not an armour-stand lock. inventory doesn't freeze every slot in the player's inventory.

Ops and players with scriptedessentials.lock.bypass bypass interaction locks. Managing the locks requires scriptedessentials.admin.

Item pickup

Turn inventory lock on before using a pickup restriction:

commands
/lock inventory on
/lock pickup block
Mode What happens
block Stops affected players picking items up
clear Removes picked-up items from the player's inventory
off Leaves pickup unrestricted

clear isn't a world-wide dropped-item cleanup. It acts when an affected player picks something up. Use Clearing entities if you want to remove dropped items from an area.

To allow normal dropping and pickup again:

commands
/lock pickup off
/lock inventory off

For blocking commands, see Chat & Messaging.
